Search Central Deep Dive Europe 2026: Apparently we're going to Barcelona

Monday, July 6, 2026

We're excited to officially announce the next stop for Search Central Live Deep Dive Europe 2026! Mark your calendars: based directly on your feedback, we're headed to Barcelona, Spain, from September 30 to October 2, 2026.

What is Deep Dive

Following our successful "standard" Search Central Live events, your feedback was clear: you wanted more than high-level overviews or isolated technical nuggets. You wanted a structured, comprehensive way to understand how Google Search operates under the hood. So we brought you the Deep Dive format:

Search Central Live Deep Dive Europe 2026 logo
  • It's longer; multiple days versus a few hours.
  • More in-depth; we have more time to elaborate instead of picking very specific topics, allowing for a semantically chained curriculum based on how Search works.
  • Wider range of topics; again, because we have more time.

The event is intentionally designed more as a study track rather than a traditional, broad-spectrum industry conference. It's less of covering high-level digital marketing trends, agency management, or cross-channel brand strategies, and more of spending the entire three days examining a single, sequential technical flow. It is a focused, classroom-style format built for those who want to learn the underlying mechanics of web and search infrastructure and apply what they learned on their day-to-day work.

For a full comparison between SCL and SCL Deep Dive, see the Search Central Live Deep Dive page on Search Central.

What to expect at SCL Deep Dive Europe 2026

Our 3-day conference is mapped out as a sequential journey. To get the most out of the learning experience, we strongly encourage you to join us for the entire progression:

Day 1: The Foundation & Crawling: September 30 (Wednesday).
We lay the groundwork by exploring how search and AI systems connect to the modern web. From there, we jump straight into crawling in rigorous detail. You will learn the exact mechanics of how Google Search (and some AI systems) discover content and handle resources, and how to use Google Search Console to accurately diagnose discovery bottlenecks.

Day 2: Advanced Indexing & Beyond: October 1 (Thursday).
Building directly on Day 1's crawling concepts, we transition into indexing. We will break down rendering and explore how non-textual or JavaScript-heavy components are parsed, how AI is used throughout the indexing processes, and learn practical ways to address complex indexing challenges like duplication and canonicalization. We're also going to explore the less-than-straightforward world of internationalization and localization, finishing off with showing attendees how the Google Search index is built, and how data is stored.

Day 3: Serving, Ranking, & Search Trends: October 2 (Friday).
Armed with everything you learned about how a page is crawled and indexed, the final day brings it all together. We will explore how search results are served, ranked, and presented through diverse search features, including some of the AI features. We will conclude with hands-on strategies to uncover content opportunities using Google Trends and analyze site performance.

Each day will conclude with an extensive Q&A that focuses on the specific day's topics.

The final agenda is adjusted based on the registration information you provide and the selected community talks, and will be published closer to the event dates.

Beyond the Main Stage: Community & Networking

Because this is an immersive Deep Dive, the learning does not stop with presentations from Google; we want YOU to shine! We are bringing back the favorite collaborative formats to ensure you can exchange ideas with peers and members of the Google Search team:

  • Lightning Talks: Quick, 7-minute high-impact tips and real-world case studies presented directly by your peers in the SEO and web developer community.
  • Poster Sessions: An interactive, academic-style marketplace of ideas where you can walk the floor and have intimate, 1:1 or small-group technical discussions with presenters.
  • The "Tower of Crawling & Indexing": Our custom board game and networking icebreakers will return to keep the atmosphere collaborative and fun.
  • And more… ;)

We are looking for speakers! If you have a topic (or two) you want to talk about on stage or at the poster sessions, submit them in the application form.

How to Attend

As with all Search Central Live events, attendance is completely free of charge. However, because this is an in-person only, intensive format, seating is strictly limited, and we require attendees to apply for a confirmed spot.

  • Experience Level & Background: The event is suitable for anyone who's interested in or has a profession related to search, web development, or SEO. We have no formal requirements for eligible registrations, but we think that a basic understanding of the internet, digital marketing, and search will be helpful throughout the event.
  • European market focus: The event primarily focuses on European markets, and while global travelers are welcome to apply, European based applicants are prioritized.
  • Event Language: As previously mentioned, this event will be conducted in English. No translation services will be provided.

Register now and save the date

Registrations are open and you can already apply for an invitation on the event site. Apply by September 5, 2026. We will start sending out invitations in a few weeks, but latest by September 10.
