Data safety form in Google Play Console

Apps in the Google Play Store must describe their data privacy and security practices. This information is shown on the app's store listing to help Google Play users understand how the app collects and shares user data. To provide this information for an app built with the ARCore SDK, you must complete the Data safety form in the Google Play Console.

For some of the information you provide, you may need to know how ARCore treats this data, independently of your application. This document provides information on how ARCore handles user data, including examples of applicable configurations or invocations that you can control as the app developer.

ARCore provides this information with the aim to be as transparent as possible. However, as the app developer, you are solely responsible for deciding how to respond to Google Play's Data safety form in disclosing your app's user data collection, sharing, and security practices.

Data collected and shared by your app

The Data safety form that you must submit reports both data that is collected and shared by your app directly, as well as the data that ARCore collects and shares. You should review which ARCore API calls your app makes in addition to how your app collects and shares user data to determine what to declare.

For more information about the Data safety form, see Provide information for Google Play's Data safety section.

Data collected and shared by ARCore

On the Data safety form, you must report the data that ARCore collects and shares on behalf of your app. The section, ARCore data collection by scope, below, describes the ARCore data practices for each data type within a given scope such as App activity. Use that section as a reference when filling out the Data safety form.

Data Privacy & Security

  • Data encryption

User data collected by ARCore on devices that originally shipped with the Google Play Store will be encrypted in transit using HTTPS.

  • Data deletion

ARCore does not provide a way for users to request that their data be deleted, nor does it provide a way for developers to delete user data.

  • Data sharing

For the collected user data described in this document, ARCore does not share this data with third-parties.

  • ARCore's data collection practices comply with the Google Play Families Policy, including Play's policy for Children's privacy.

  • ARCore has not been independently validated against an external global security standard.

ARCore data collection by scope

The Data safety form describes the data types for the data your app collects and shares within each scope. Below are the scope categories and the summary information about how ARCore uses the data types within a given scope.

Location

  • ARCore does not collect location data.

  • ARCore does not share location data.

Personal info

  • ARCore collects identifiers that relate to an identifiable person.

  • ARCore does not share personal info.

  • ARCore does not share calendar data.

Contacts

  • ARCore does not collect contacts data.

  • ARCore does not share contacts data.

App activity

  • ARCore collects app activity data; the data is stored by Google, not just processed ephemerally. The following types of data are collected within the scope of app activity:

    • Page views and taps in app

This is the type of data described by the Data safety form for tracking the ARCore API calls that your app makes. ARCore does not track page views or taps in your app. It does collect data about the calls to the ARCore APIs that your app makes, and uses this data for analytics.

    • User-generated Content

If your app hosts Cloud Anchors, ARCore collects user-generated Cloud Anchor data. This is required to provide app functionality. If your app only resolves existing Cloud Anchors and does not host new Cloud Anchors, ARCore does not collect any user-generated content data.

  • ARCore does not share app activity data.

Web browsing

  • ARCore does not collect web browsing data.

  • ARCore does not share web browsing data.

App info and performance

  • ARCore collects the following app info and performance data.

    • Diagnostics

ARCore collects diagnostic data about the performance of the app, the ARCore SDK, and the user's device; for example, battery life, loading time, latency, framerate, and other diagnostics. ARCore uses this data to produce analytics about usage, ARCore performance, and app performance. The data is stored by Google, not just processed ephemerally.

  • ARCore does not share app info and performance data.

Device or other identifiers

  • ARCore collects identifiers that relate to an individual device, browser or app; this data is stored by Google, not just processed ephemerally. This data is used for analytics.

  • ARCore does not share device or other identifier data.
