With Google Earth you can find the longitude, latitude, altitude, and when images were taken of places from around the world.

Find coordinates of a location
Use Google Earth to look up the longitude (east-west position) and latitude (north-south position) coordinates of a location.
- On your computer, open Google Earth.
- On the left, click Search.
- Search for a place. A knowledge panel will open with information about the place.
- Click Save to project to save the place.
- In the resulting window, click More settings.
- In the box that appears, find the longitude and latitude coordinates.
Use coordinates to find a place
You can use the coordinates of a place to find its location on Google Earth.
- On your computer, open Google Earth.
- On the left, click Search.
- Type the coordinates using one of these formats:
- Decimal Degrees:
42.7°, -100.2°
- Degrees, Minutes, Seconds:
64°25'12.07"N, 100°10'15.24"W
Choose coordinates format
- On your computer, open Google Earth.
- Click Settings.
- Go to Formats and units.
- In the drop-down menu under "Latitude/Longitude formatting", choose Degrees, Minutes, Seconds, or Decimal.
Check the altitude of a place
- Search for a place, or adjust Google Earth until you find the correct location.
- At the bottom right find the real-world altitude and the altitude of the camera. If you move the mouse to hover over different locations, the altitude updates.
Choose a unit of measurement for altitude
- On your computer, open Google Earth.
- Click Settings.
- Go to Formats and units.
- In the drop-down menu under "Latitude/Longitude formatting", choose Degrees, Minutes, Seconds, or Decimal.
