Undo and redo

Google Earth's undo and redo capabilities allow you to revert or restore project actions, providing a safety net for your editing. This means you can experiment and refine your projects with confidence, knowing you can always go back a step.

To undo your last action, use any of the following options:

  • Press Ctrl + Z (Windows & Linux) or ⌘ Command + Z (Mac) on your keyboard.
  • Click the Edit menu in the top bar, then select Undo.
  • Click the Undo button in the map toolbar.

To redo an action you've undone, use any of the following options:

  • Press Ctrl + Y (Windows & Linux) or ⌘ Command + Y (Mac) on your keyboard.
  • Click the Edit menu in the top bar, then select Redo.
  • Click the Redo button in the map toolbar.

The Undo and Redo options are always available in the Edit menu and in the toolbar. However, they will be greyed out or disabled if there are no actions to undo or redo. This gives you a clear visual cue about when these functions are available.

Important considerations

  • Session-specific: Your undo/redo history is saved only for your current session and for the specific project you have open. It won't carry over if you close Google Earth or open a different project.
  • Collaborative work: If you're collaborating on a project, your undo/redo actions will only affect the changes you've made personally. However, the outcome of your undo/redo will be visible to all collaborators.
