A footnote is an annotation with additional information usually provided at the end of a page,
chapter, or book. We recommend avoiding footnotes because they aren't accessible and can present
challenges for localization efforts.
Instead of a footnote, consider using the following formats to convey information:
[[["Easy to understand","easyToUnderstand","thumb-up"],["Solved my problem","solvedMyProblem","thumb-up"],["Other","otherUp","thumb-up"]],[["Missing the information I need","missingTheInformationINeed","thumb-down"],["Too complicated / too many steps","tooComplicatedTooManySteps","thumb-down"],["Out of date","outOfDate","thumb-down"],["Samples / code issue","samplesCodeIssue","thumb-down"],["Other","otherDown","thumb-down"]],["Last updated 2025-04-02 UTC."],[[["
Footnotes present accessibility and localization challenges, making them generally undesirable for conveying additional information.

"],["
Preferred alternatives to footnotes include incorporating links, using notes, or placing information within parentheses.

"],["
When footnotes are unavoidable, prioritize using symbols ( *, †, ‡, # ) over numbers for better accessibility.

"],["
Footnote symbols should be offset using superscript and placed at the bottom of the page.

"]]],["Footnotes, though annotations providing extra information, are discouraged due to accessibility and localization issues. For example a superscript 1 can be added to a sentence to point to a note at the bottom of the page.
"],null,["# Footnotes

A footnote is an annotation with additional information usually provided at the end of a page,
chapter, or book.
