Grouped Issues

Google Issue Tracker provides three ways of grouping and organizing issues:

  • Saved searches
  • Hotlists
  • Bookmark groups

Saved searches

Saved searches allow you to store the criteria for searching for issues so that you can perform the same search later without re-entering the search criteria. When you run a saved search, Issue Tracker returns the issues that currently match the criteria, which may change over time. You can share a saved search with other users or add a saved search to a bookmark group. Other users can only see issues in the search results where they have the appropriate access permissions. This means that another user may see different or no search results when executing the same search. See Saved Searches for more information.

Hotlists

A hotlist is a list of specific issues, where you manually add or remove the issues. A new issue only appears in a hotlist if you or another user explicitly adds it and it remains in the hotlist regardless of any changes that are made to it. Like saved searches, you can share a hotlist with other users or add it to a bookmark group. See Hotlists for more information.

Bookmark groups

A bookmark group is a collection of hotlists and saved searches. You can share a bookmark group with other users. See Bookmark Groups for more information.

IDs and naming

Saved searches, hotlists and bookmark groups are uniquely identified by ID numbers. You can find ID numbers by clicking the pencil or clipboard icon on the details page next to the resource name. As an alternative, if a resource is in the left-hand navigation, you can access its ID number by selecting Settings or Info in its drop-down menu.

Names for saved searches, hotlists and bookmark groups do not need to be unique. For example, two different users can create a bookmark group named "My Bookmark Group." One of these bookmark groups may have the ID number 63690 while the other has an ID number of 82451. If the same user creates or subscribes to resources with the same name, each resource appears in the left-hand navigation and it may be difficult to distinguish one from another. For this reason, you should make names as unique as possible and avoid using generic names.
