Testing against Google Play policies

Checks helps you test your app against a subset of Google Play policies before you submit it for review. This helps you identify and fix potential issues early, ensuring a smoother launch and a better user experience.

What policies can I test?

Checks can help you assess your app in the following areas:

  • Data safety disclosure accuracy: Verify that the information you provide in your app's Data safety section accurately reflects your app's data collection and sharing practices.
  • Permission minimization: Ensure that your app requests only the permissions necessary for its functionality.
  • Families policy compliance: If your app is targeted towards children and families, Checks can help you identify potential violations of the Families policy.
  • API usage: Detect any improper use of restricted or sensitive APIs.

How do I scan my app against Google Play policies?

If you connect your Android app to Checks and enable "Do you want Play Store checks run on this app?" during onboarding or in Settings, Google Play policy checks will be automatically enabled and evaluated anytime you run an app analysis.

If you don't already have a Checks account, you can sign up for Checks at checks.google.com/onboarding.

Benefits of using Checks to evaluate Google Play policies

  • Early issue detection: Identify potential policy violations early in the development process, reducing the risk of rejection during the app review process.
  • Actionable recommendations: Receive clear guidance on how to fix identified issues, making it easier to comply with Google Play policies.
  • Improved app quality: By addressing policy violations, you can improve the overall quality of your app and enhance user trust.
  • Faster time to market: Streamline the app review process by submitting an app that is more likely to be approved.

By using Checks, you can proactively address potential policy violations and ensure your app meets the standards of the Google Play Store.
