What are public programs?

We’re expanding Google Maps Platform availability for Google public programs that support nonprofit, startup, crisis response, news media, and educational organizations. We’re committed to developers supporting these organizations and programs.

Existing Google for Nonprofit users who are receiving grants will transition to Google Maps Platform credits. Eligible organizations may apply for Google Maps Platform credits through the following programs:

All Google Maps Platform users receive $200 in recurring monthly credit on accounts with billing enabled.

Nonprofits

Details

Verified Google for Nonprofits organizations can apply to receive additional credits for use against Google Maps Platform usage, starting at $250 per month. Applicants must have the authority to accept the Google Maps Core Services License Agreement and the Google Maps Platform credits policy on behalf of your nonprofit organization.

Eligibility

You must be signed up with Google for Nonprofits and signed in to your account in order to apply for additional Google Maps Platform credits.

Sign up

  1. Sign up for a Google for Nonprofits account.
  2. Sign in to your Google for Nonprofits account.
  3. Activate Google Maps Platform credits.
  4. Complete the Google Maps Platform credits application for nonprofits. You must have administrator access to your nonprofit organization’s billing account to complete the application.

Crisis responders

Details

Developers and organizations responding to a crisis can apply to receive Google Maps Platform credits for their project. Applicants must have the authority to accept the Google Maps Core Services License Agreement and the Google Maps Platform credits policy on behalf of your organization.

News media organizations

Details

Verified journalists and news media organizations can apply to receive Google Maps Platform credits, starting at $250 per month. Applicants must have the authority to accept the Google Maps Core Services License Agreement and the Google Maps Platform credits policy on behalf of your organization.

Eligibility

You must be an organization whose primary mission is journalism in order to apply for Google Maps Platform news media credits.

Startups

Details

Verified Google Cloud startups can apply to receive Google Maps Platform credits. Applicants must have the authority to accept the Google Maps Core Services License Agreement and the Google Maps Platform credits policy on behalf of your organization.

Eligibility

You must be approved for the Google for Startups: Cloud Program in order to apply for Google Maps Platform startup credits.

  1. Check the qualifications for the Google for Startups: Cloud Program and apply.
  2. Once you have received approval for the Google for Startups: Cloud Program, complete the Maps Credits application form.

Faculty

Details

Faculty at higher learning institutions can apply for credits to teach courses. Interested students can encourage their faculty members to apply for credits to use in their next course. See program FAQs.

Transit Agencies

Details

Verified transit agencies can apply to receive Google Maps Platform credits, starting at $1000 per month. Applicants must have the authority to accept the Google Maps Core Services License Agreement and the Google Maps Platform credits policy on behalf of your organization.

Eligibility

You must be a verified transit agency in order to apply for Google Maps Platform transit agency credits.
