YouTube Shopping developer policies

Entities accessing Youtube Affiliate Program data through the Merchant API are subject to the Google APIs Terms of Service and the additional developer policies on this page.

The following restrictions apply for any entity accessing YouTube Shopping Affiliate Program data:

  • Anti-joining and anti-profiling: Entities accessing API data (including channel_id, video_id, video_url, and conversion timestamps) are expressly prohibited from joining, correlating, or matching this data with any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or first-party customer CRM records to re-identify user viewing habits, track individual behavior, or build user profiles.

  • Data minimization for 3P sharing/Prohibition on Downstream Syndication: Any campaign reporting shared with primary third-party funding brands (e.g., Google Pixel) must be strictly limited to aggregate, SKU-level marketplace metrics. The transfer, access, or syndication of raw, line-item creator data (such as exact channel IDs, video URLs, or individual creator earnings) is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, sub-sellers and primary funding brands are strictly prohibited from syndicating, transferring, or sharing any YouTube Shopping Affiliate Program data—whether raw or aggregated—to any secondary external third parties, including marketing agencies, ad networks, or data brokers. All permitted data must be used solely for direct campaign performance evaluation.

  • Downstream accountability and enforcement: API access is granted to the merchants. Under the Google APIs Terms of Service, if a merchant facilitates API access or passes data to downstream parties (such as a marketplace to their sub-sellers), the merchant remains liable for those parties' compliance with these documentation rules, and must indemnify Google for any violations committed by such downstream parties. Google reserves the right to request reasonable documentation or attestations of compliance from merchants to verify adherence to these data minimization rules. Google also reserves the right to suspend API access for any merchants that violate these rules.
