Premium Plan Analytics

Note: The Google Maps Platform Premium Plan is no longer available for sign up or new customers.

As a Premium Plan customer, you can use Google Maps Analytics to learn how users are interacting with your maps so you can improve your application. Analytics reports provide real usage statistics that you can use to answer questions such as:

  • What zoom level and map type are most common?
  • For which countries are users requesting geocoding results?
  • How often are the Maps JavaScript API services used?

Analytics reporting is available for the Maps JavaScript API and related client-side services.

You can enable Analytics without any changes to your code. All data is aggregated and anonymized to protect users' privacy.

This *Zoom Interactions* report shows that, for the sites associated with
this client ID, most users are using zoom levels between 4 and 7.

Access Analytics

Visit the Google Cloud Support Portal and select Maps: Analytics from the Resources list. If you have multiple client IDs associated with your account, you'll be asked to select the client ID and channel you want to use each time you access Analytics.

Enable Analytics for your client ID

You'll need to enable Analytics for each client ID. You'll be asked to confirm that you want to enable Analytics the first time you try to access the reports for each client ID. Once you enable Analytics, it can take up to 5 minutes for Analytics to start recording data.

It's not necessary to modify your existing code, unless you intend to use the channel feature and do not currently specify a channel when loading the JavaScript library.
