Air Quality API
Announcing the launch of the Air Quality API (in Restricted Preview) on GMP.
What is the Air Quality API?
The Air Quality API allows consumers to request air quality data for a specific location including: more than 70 AQ indexes, pollutants, and health recommendations. It covers over 100 countries with a resolution of 500 x 500 meters. It provides users with the information they seek regarding environmental hazards and enables Developers to incorporate environmental insights so that their customers can make healthier decisions while engaged with their products.
What features included in the release?
Air Quality API consists of three endpoints which together provide comprehensive AQ information and means to visualize it.
- Current Conditions. Real-time hourly air quality information.
- Hourly History. Air quality history for a specific location, for a given time range, up to a maximum of 30 days.
- Heatmaps. Color coded tiles of various indexes and pollutants.
Air quality information includes:
- Over 70 air quality indexes which are calculated hourly to provide real-time information with 500 x 500 meters resolution
- Hundreds of actionable recommendations to reduce exposure based on the air quality for 7 population segments (general population, athletes, pregnant, elderly, asthma patients, heart conditions and children) to allow end-users to make better decisions.
- In-depth information of the different pollutants, highlighting the dominant pollutant, concentrations, emission sources and effects.
- Air quality history for a specific location for a given time range. Each response can include hourly air quality indexes, pollutant data, and health recommendations for a maximum of 720 hours (30 days).
- Heatmaps are a collection of AQ indexes and pollutants image tiles that can be displayed on top of a Google Map.
