Nelson holds a masters degree in software engineering at and has worked with software development since 2002.

In 2006, he started working at CESAR – developing games and applications with Java ME. Since 2009, Nelson's been working with Android (platform and application levels) on projects for national and global customers such as Motorola, Samsung, Positivo and HP. He's also professor of mobile development in graduate, post-graduate and extension courses at Unibratec and other institutions in the north east of Brazil.

In 2014, Google nominated him the first Developer Expert of Android in Latin America. Nelson has also spoken at various regional and national events and written about mobile development in his personal blog and specialist magazines. He is the author of "Mastering Android: from basic to advanced", published in Portuguese.
