Landsat 8 Collection 1 Tier 1 Annual NBR Composite [deprecated]

  • This dataset, which contains Landsat 8 Collection 1 Tier 1 annual composites of the Normalized Burn Ratio Thermal (NBRT) index, is now superseded.

  • The dataset provides NBRT values calculated from the Near-IR, Mid-IR, and Thermal bands, with a range of -1.0 to 1.0.

  • Composites are created annually using all scenes, with the most recent pixel value used for the composite.

  • Data is available from 2013-01-01T00:00:00Z to 2022-01-01T00:00:00Z and is in the public domain.

Description

These Landsat 8 Collection 1 Tier 1 composites are made from Tier 1 orthorectified scenes, using the computed top-of-atmosphere (TOA) reflectance. See Chander et al. (2009) for details on the TOA computation.

The Normalized Burn Ratio Thermal (NBRT) index is generated from the Near-IR, Mid-IR (2215 nm), and Thermal bands, and has a range from -1.0 to 1.0. See Holden et al. (2005) for details.

These composites are created from all the scenes in each annual period beginning from the first day of the year and continuing to the last day of the year. All the images from each year are included in the composite, with the most recent pixel as the composite value.
