It's important to spread the word about GSoC!

Flyers

If you'd like to help people learn about GSoC, here is a flyer you can use to spread the word!

If you're wondering what this means, you are welcome to do what you'd like with the logo provided you don't change it beyond resizing it. You are, for example, welcome to put it up on your website or use it on a flyer advertising your organization's participation in the program. If you want to use it in a presentation, that's great, as long as you don't charge people to come and see you talk.

Template Email for GSoC Applicants

Do you know anyone who might be a good candidate to participate as a contributor in GSoC? You can use this sample email to help advertise the program. Consider sending it to appropriate recipients, such as schools, teachers, friends, clubs, and developer communities:

Google Summer of Code (g.co/gsoc) is Google's mentorship program for bringing new contributors into open source communities. It's happening again for the 20th year in 2024! Over 20,000 developers from 116 countries have participated under the guidance of 19,000+ mentors from 133 countries!

Google Summer of Code is a unique program where students or new contributors to open source, ages 18 and over, are paired with a mentor to introduce them to the open source community and provide guidance while they work on a real world open source project over the summer. Projects cover a wide range of fields including: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud, Operating Systems, Graphics, Medicine, Programming Languages, Robotics, Science, Security and many more. GSoC Contributors earn a stipend to work on their small (~90 hour), medium (~175 hour) or large (~350 hour) projects. This is not an internship but provides an invaluable experience to put your skills to use on a real world software project and lets you be part of an amazing community!

GSoC is a highly competitive program, so don't wait until the last minute to prepare! Interested GSoC Contributors should research organizations that participated previously and reach out to the organizations that interest them as early in the year as possible.

The 2024 mentor organizations will be announced on February 21, 2024. Potential GSoC Contributors can apply at g.co/gsoc from March 18 to April 2, 2024.
