Biography

Tom is an experienced and passionate UX researcher, strategist and designer, with a strong preference for working with Agile development teams. He has studied in the life sciences and received his Masters in Information Science from the School of Information at the University of Michigan with a focus on Human-computer Interaction. His first job after graduation was as a High-Tech Anthropologist™ at Menlo Innovations, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he worked in paired, Agile teams on projects for companies of all sizes and stages of development.

Based in Berlin since 2006, Tom has helped early-to-mid-stage startups as well as multi-national corporations provide more useful, usable and delightful experiences to their end users. As CXO, Tom worked with the early stage startup CareerFoundry in building its Agile and UX practices and was part of the management team that successfully closed an A-round of venture capital funding. In his spare time, Tom contributes to the team that's shaping the Google Launchpad Program as Lead UX Mentor, and, since 2009, has been on the organization team for UXcamp Europe – one of the largest gatherings of UX professionals in the world.
