Exercise 1: Which terms do different audiences know?

  • This exercise aims to categorize technical terms based on their familiarity to different target audiences.

  • The terms are classified as either "Know" (familiar to at least 90% of the audience) or "Explain" (unfamiliar to at least 10% of the audience).

  • Understanding audience familiarity is crucial for effective communication, especially when using technical terminology.

  • Content creators can use this categorization to ensure their content is accessible and easily understood by the intended audience.

Classify terms in the table below into one of the two following categories:

  • Know: At least 90% of people in this target audience already know what this term means. Therefore, you can use this term without having to first explain it.
  • Explain: At least 10% of people in this target audience do not know what this term means. Therefore, you must avoid this term, explain this term, or link to an explanation.
