The Data Plan Sharing API allows Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to share information about their users' data plans with Google. This information sharing allows Google applications to adapt their behavior and service rendering with respect to data plan status. This improves the operation of Google applications, allows users to better understand their data plan usage, and helps eliminate the need for manual data management. For example, an application may defer downloading an update if the user's data balance is low or delay downloads until off-peak times when connectivity is less expensive. In collaboration with app developers, this API allows carriers to enhance the experience of their subscribers.
