Publishing your app with the G Suite Marketplace SDK

Some apps, such as Gmail add-ons and Hangout Chat bots, are published directly to the G Suite Marketplace. This section explains the steps to publish your app.

Before you publish

Here are a few things to consider before you publish:

  • While it isn't a requirement, it's helpful to install and test the App before you publish it. If your app is a Gmail add-on, you can test an uninstalled version. Otherwise use the Test Installation button in the GSM SDK Configuration panel.
  • Once you publish a listing, it undergoes a review process. The listing enters the G Suite Marketplace store once it is approved.

Required resources

To publish to the G Suite Marketplace, you must provide all the required assets described in the G Suite Marketplace SDK guide. It's best to collect all of these assets before you start the publication process.

Publish your app

Once you've tested your app and have gathered all the required resources, follow these steps to create your G Suite Marketplace listing:

  1. Enable the G Suite Marketplace SDK for your app.
  2. Complete the Configuration panel of the SDK. To create an app that can only be installed on your domain, select My Domain as your visibility setting.
  3. Complete the Publish panel of the SDK.
  4. Click Publish changes when you're done.

Once you publish, our review team investigates your application to ensure that it meets the Marketplace requirements. Note that it can take up to a week to verify that your app; it will appear on the G Suite Marketplace once the technical requirements are verified. You can check the status of the process in the Publish panel of the SDK.

Once your app is fully published to the Marketplace, it's best practice to install it on a test domain. If everything is working correctly, you're done!

Updating your app

If you need to update your app to a new version, follow these steps:

  • If your app is a Gmail add-on, use the instructions to Update a published add-on.
  • Otherwise, repeat the steps you used to publish the app, using updated files.

You may only want to change your app's Markeplace listing; for example, to edit the app description. To update your app's listing, do the following:

  1. Open your app's Cloud Platform project in the APIs & Services dashboard and find the "G Suite Marketplace SDK" you enabled. Click the settings icon to open the SDK control panel.
  2. Navigate to the Configuration panel, make any required changes, then click Save changes.
  3. Navigate to the Publish panel and make any necessary changes there. Click Publish to republish the listing.

Unpublishing Your App

To unpublish your app from the G Suite Marketplace, do the following:

  1. Open your app's Cloud Platform project in the APIs & Services dashboard and find the "G Suite Marketplace SDK" you enabled. Click the settings icon to open the SDK control panel.
  2. Navigate to the Publish panel, and click Unpublish. You can republish the app again later by doing the same and clicking Publish.
