The Google Apps Admin APIs Terms of Service

Last modified:
By using this API, you consent to be bound by these terms in addition to the Google APIs Terms of Service ("API ToS") at https://developers.google.com/terms.
  1. Definitions

    1. Customer Token

The token provided to Customer by Google for use with the Google Apps Admin APIs.

    2. Google Apps Admin APIs

APIs subject to this Terms of Service may be found at http://developers.google.com/google-apps/admin-api-list.

    3. Google Apps Agreement

The agreement between Customer and Google under which Customer receives the Services from Google. Capitalized terms used here but not defined here are defined in the Google Apps Agreement.

    4. Services

The Google services as defined in Customer's Google Apps Agreement.

  2. Usage Obligations

In addition to the usage obligations in Section 2 of the API ToS, you agree that:
    1. Use is subject to Customer's Google Apps Agreement

You may only use the Google Apps Admin APIs if you are a Google Apps Customer receiving Services from Google pursuant to a Google Apps Agreement ("you" or "Customer"). Your use of the Google Apps Admin APIs is subject to your compliance with the Google Apps Agreement agreed to by Customer and these Google Apps Admin API Terms.

    2. Confidential information

Content obtained from Google using the Google Apps Admin APIs, Customer Tokens, and the Google Apps API documentation are subject to the confidentiality obligations contained in the Google Apps Agreement.

    3. Breach or expiration

If Customer's use of the Google Apps Admin APIs violates these terms or the terms of the Google Apps Agreement, Google may suspend Customer's access to the Google Apps Admin APIs without notice, and may terminate Customer's access to the Google Apps Admin APIs if Customer has not cured any such violation within thirty (30) days of the suspension. Upon expiration or termination of the Google Apps Agreement, Customer must cease all use of the Google Apps Admin APIs and, if requested by Google, certify this cessation of use in writing.

    4. License Manager API and Provisioning API

Use of the License Manager API or Provisioning API may result in additional charges to Customer's billing account if the API is used to license or provision more users than the Customer has paid for prior to the use of the API. Billing for these additional charges will be at the rates and on the terms Customer has agreed to for the product licensed or provisioned.

  3. Provisions regarding your API Clients

In addition to the provisions in Section 3 of the API ToS, you agree that:
    1. License

Google grants Customer a personal, non-transferable and non-exclusive right and license to use the Google Apps Admin APIs in connection with its use of the Services in accordance with the Google Apps Agreement and the API documentation. This use includes using the Google Apps Admin APIs to: (a) access Google servers; (b) develop a Google Apps Admin API Client; (c) create or administer End User Accounts; and (d) receive content from Customer's End Users through the Google Apps Admin APIs.

    2. APIs may change

Because the Google Apps Admin APIs may change over time, Customer's development of any intellectual property that uses the Google Apps Admin APIs, or is based on, relates to, or relies upon, the Google Apps Admin APIs, is at Customer's sole risk.

  4. Prohibitions

In addition to the prohibitions in Section 4 of the API ToS, the following prohibitions apply:
    1. Google Apps Email Migration API

The Google Apps Email Migration API may only be used to migrate an End User's email content from its previous location to that End User's Google Apps email account. The Google Apps Email Migration API may not be used as a continuous email delivery service, or as a notification or advertising service for End Users.

    2. Email Audit API

The Email Audit API is not designed and should not be used for general backup, archival, or journaling purposes. Google reserves the right to prevent a customer from using the Email Audit API in ways that might adversely impact the performance or usability of the Email Audit API. API Clients using the Email Audit API (“Email API Clients”) must be created and used for only for Customer's internal purposes, and may not be provided to third parties. Customer may only create an Email Audit API Client using its own Customer Token.

  5. Deprecation Policy

Google will announce if it intends to discontinue or make backwards incompatible changes to this API or Service. Google will use commercially reasonable efforts to continue to operate those Google Apps Admin APIs versions and features identified at http://developers.google.com/google-apps/admin-api-list without these changes until April 20, 2015, unless (as Google determines in its reasonable good faith judgment):

    • required by law or third party relationship (including if there is a change in applicable law or relationship), or
    • doing so could create a security risk or substantial economic or material technical burden.

The above policy is the "Deprecation Policy."

After April 20, 2015, this Deprecation Policy will not apply.
