Connected Apps Platform
The Connected Apps Platform lets you bring your apps and services directly into Google products like the Gemini app and Search, so users can access their personal live account context and complete real-world actions right in their conversations. Users link your app once; after that, they can access their data and take actions in your service seamlessly from applicable Google products.
Users already manage a lot of their lives on Google, and Connected Apps bring them your service right where and when they need it.
Overview of the Connected Apps Platform
To support an "enable once and run Google-wide" ecosystem, the Connected Apps Platform standardizes several integration paths, giving you the power to reach users across Google's products like Gemini app and Search. Instead of building bespoke integrations, you can leverage standard protocols to securely expose authorized third-party data and tools.
The platform is built around the following core integrations and SDKs:
MCP server
Connect your tools and authorized data across applicable Google products using the Model Context Protocol (MCP) open-standard protocol. With a single integration path, you can choose to engage with users on applicable Google products. Take it further by designing rich, interactive user interfaces with MCP Apps.
See our Connected Apps Platform MCP server developer guide for details on setting up a remote MCP server for the Connected Apps Platform. Also, read the OAuth 2.1 implementation guide for details on implementing OAuth 2.1 to securely authorize the Gemini app to interact with your services on behalf of users.
Android MCP
AppFunctions are Android's MCP solution. This client-side integration path lets Android apps share their functionality with intelligent agents and assistants such as the Gemini app, turning a users' mobile device into a hub enabling secure, real-time invocation of native app features. This path is especially useful if apps want their tool execution to happen locally on an Android device. Apps can implement Android MCP using the Jetpack AppFunctions SDK.
Register and manage
During the preview phase, we offer self-service onboarding to the Connected Apps Platform through Google Connected Console. Connected Console lets you manage everything from tool registration, to usage analysis, to your connected app's review and publishing process. Developers interested in joining can apply for preview.
