This field indicates a unique ID for an impression within the context of the segment request.

What's new in Real-time Curation v1.1

Added SegmentRequest.imp.ext.gpid field.
Added support for Global Placement ID through the new SegmentRequest.imp.ext.gpid field. The gpid field provides a distinct, persistent ID specified by the publisher, which is consistent across supply paths for each ad unit on a page.
