دلایل مختلفی وجود دارد که ممکن است خطای 403 را از وب سایت GSoC دریافت کنید. در اینجا برخی از رایج ترین آنها آورده شده است:
شما در یک نمایه مرورگر به چندین حساب Google وارد شده اید. ما از ورود چندگانه پشتیبانی نمی‌کنیم و پیشنهاد می‌کنیم که هر حساب را در نمایه مرورگر خودش جدا کنید. (این سایت بر روی App Engine اجرا می شود، که API را برای پشتیبانی از ورود چندگانه نمایش نمی دهد.)
شما برای نمونه GSoC امسال حسابی ندارید. حتی اگر در سال های قبل شرکت کرده اید، باید هر سال مجددا ثبت نام کنید. دانشجویان باید در طول دوره درخواست دانشجو ثبت نام کنند. مربیان باید از سازمانی که می‌خواهند با آن مربیگری کنند، دعوت‌نامه درخواست کنند.
