Announcing the General Availability (GA) release of the Maps 3D Android SDK (v16.0.1), which includes the following new features and changes:

• Added UI controls for manipulating the camera position and orientation on the map (see Configure camera controls):
  • Added UiControlSettings, UiControlSettings.ControlPlacement, and UiControlSettings.ControlOrientation.
  • Added Map3DControl and its subclasses: CompassControl, ZoomControl, TiltControl, RotateControl, PanHorizontalControl, PanVerticalControl, and Spacer.
  • Updated GoogleMap3D to include getUiControlSettings.
  • Added setUiControlsPlacement to UiControlSettings to configure the placement of UI controls.
• Added interactive basemap points of interest (POIs) with built-in Places UI Kit integration to display place details when users tap POIs on the 3D map (see Interact with points of interest):
  • Added Map3DClickEvent to represent click events on the 3D map, providing location and placeId properties.
  • Updated OnMap3DClickListener so that onMap3DClick accepts a Map3DClickEvent and returns a Boolean (true to suppress the default Places UI widget, or false to display it).
  • Updated setMap3DClickListener on GoogleMap3D to support the updated OnMap3DClickListener.
• Added map localization support to configure the language and region for map labels and UI elements (see Localize the map):
  • Added LocaleOptions with getLanguage, setLanguage, getRegion, and setRegion.
  • Updated GoogleMap3D to include setLocale.
  • Updated Map3DInitConfig to include language and region properties.
• Added custom view marker support to render Android View hierarchies as markers on the 3D map (see Create markers with custom views):
  • Added MarkerView, MarkerViewOptions, and PinView.
  • Updated GoogleMap3D to include addMarkerView.
• Added camera altitude mode support to specify how the camera's altitude is interpreted during camera positioning and path animations (see Add camera path animations):
  • Updated Camera to include getAltitudeMode, setAltitudeMode, and a 6-argument Camera constructor that accepts an AltitudeMode value.
