In order to ensure a consistent user experience when interacting with Place Action links, all Place Action platform providers must adhere to the following guidelines:
Place Action links must lead to a dedicated landing page for the merchant. The links must not lead to the platform provider’s homepage or any other pages.
Place Action links must allow the user to complete the designated action. For example, an ‘ordering’ link must allow the user to complete an order without placing a phone call or going to another site or app.
Platform providers may only enable Place Action links for the merchant if approved or authorized by the merchant. If the merchant withdraws approval or reports no association with the platform provider, the links must be removed within 5 business days.
The landing page that Place Action links are linked to must clearly denote that it is owned and operated by the platform provider. The landing page cannot be reasonably misconstrued as being a merchant-owned page, unless explicitly approved by the merchant.
Partners must abide by Reserve with Google’s Support & maintenance guidelines.
Platform providers who offer Support & maintenance guidelines online services must also adhere to the following policies:
An online service is a service that is offered fully remote (i.e. online classes or online consultations) and in real-time.
Place Action links for online services must lead to a landing page that offers at least one online service that can be booked directly without placing a phone call or going to another site or app.
For partners with non-virtual inventory, partners are required to enable conversion tracking for all successful bookings originating from Google.
Platform providers and merchants who offer shopping actions must also adhere to the following policies:
- Place action links must lead to a dedicated landing page for the merchant with the given store’s location, pre-selected for ordering (for businesses with multiple store locations)
- For delivery only experiences, if the user cannot specify a specific merchant location in the ordering flow, then the zipcode / postal code and brand of the given store location must be preselected in the landing experience.
- Partners participating in shopping actions are required to enable conversion tracking for all successful orders originating from Google.
The following categories are currently enabled for the Reserve with Google Starter Integration:
- Business offering online services
- Retail merchants
Adherence to this policy will be proactively monitored on a regular basis. Violation of the policy can result in perpetual removal of all Place Action links provided by the platform provider.
