Handling Audio Focus

Audio focus API has been introduced in Android 2.2 (API level 8) in order to manage audio focus, transient loss of audio focus and ducking. When your application needs to output audio such as music , it is best practice to request audio focus, otherwise the system will not prevent playing music even after losing audio focus and is more likely to have a bad user experience.

You can learn more about audio focus and how to request and handle it in the AudioFocus section in the Android Developer Guide.
