Während der aktuellen globalen Pandemie veröffentlichen Webmaster auf der ganzen Welt – von Regierungsstellen bis zu Gesundheitsorganisationen – auf ihren Websites regelmäßig aktuelle Informationen und bieten Zugang zu Ressourcen an, um die Ausbreitung von COVID-19 einzudämmen. Oft haben sie jedoch nicht genügend Zeit oder finanzielle Mittel für die Übersetzung dieser Inhalte in mehrere Sprachen, wodurch wertvolle Informationen bestimmte Lesergruppen nicht erreichen. Außerdem sind einige Inhalte unter Umständen nur als Datei verfügbar, z. B. im PDF- oder DOC-Format, was zusätzliche Übersetzungsschritte erfordert.
Damit diese Webmaster mehr Nutzer erreichen können, schalten wir den Zugriff auf den Website-Übersetzer von Google Übersetzer wieder frei. Dieses Widget übersetzt den Inhalt von Webseiten in über 100 Sprachen. Es basiert auf unserer neuesten maschinellen Übersetzungstechnologie und lässt sich einfach einbinden. Bitte beachtet, dass die Nutzung auf staatliche, gemeinnützige bzw. andere nicht kommerzielle Websites, z. B. Bildungseinrichtungen, beschränkt ist, die in der Coronakrise Hilfe anbieten. Für alle anderen Websites empfehlen wir die Google Cloud Translation API.
Google Übersetzer bietet außerdem sowohl Websiteinhabern als auch Lesern die Möglichkeit, auf einer Website gehostete Dokumente zu übersetzen. Wenn beispielsweise diese PDF-Datei ins Spanische übersetzt werden soll, ruft translate.google.com auf, gebt die URL der Datei in das Textfeld ein und wählt dann „Spanisch“ als Zielsprache aus. Über den Link im Textfeld gelangt ihr zur übersetzten Version der PDF-Datei. Die folgenden Dateiformate werden unterstützt: DOC, DOCX, ODF, PDF, PPT, PPTX, PS, RTF, TXT, XLS und XLSX.
