Poly Plugins Guide

Poly plugins let you upload assets directly to your Poly account without switching applications.

This page shows you how to install and use the Poly plugins for Blender, Cinema 4D, Maya, and 3ds Max.

Blender

Install the plugin

  1. Download poly-blender-plugin.zip.

  2. Open User Preferences (in the menu under File > User preferences) and select the Add-ons tab.

  3. Click Install from file and select the file you downloaded.

    Enable the add-on by making sure the checkbox is checked.

  4. Click Save User Settings to make sure the add-on is enabled every time you start Blender.

    If you've successfully installed and enabled the add-on, you'll see two new options in the Export menu: Sign in to Poly and Upload to Poly.

Upload an asset

  1. In the menu, select File > Export > Upload to Poly to upload the current Blender asset to Poly.

    If you have not signed in before, or if permissions have expired, you'll be asked to sign in into your google account and grant access to the plugin.

  2. Once uploaded, you'll be directed to the Poly website where you can review and publish the asset.

Cinema 4D

Install the Plugin

Before installing plugins, quit Cinema 4D. The next time you launch the application, the plug-in loads automatically.

  1. Download the zip file containing the plugin and associated files for your platform:

  2. Move the zip file to Cinema 4D's plugin folder, which is located at: <cinema-4d-folder>/plugins.

  3. Extract the zip file to the same plugin folder.

Upload an asset

  1. In the menu, select Plugins > Export to Google Poly. You'll see the Poly Uploader pop up box.

  2. Click Export to Poly and review the OBJ export settings and click OK.

    If you have not signed in before, or if permissions have expired, you'll be asked to sign in into your google account and grant access to the plugin.

  3. Once uploaded, you'll be directed to the Poly website where you can review and publish the asset.

Maya

Install the plugin

  1. Download the plugin for your version of Maya:

  2. Move the file to Maya's plugin folder, which by default is located at: <maya-folder>/bin/plug-ins.

  3. If you've installed the plugin successfully, you'll see it in the Plug-in Manager (in the menu, under Windows > Setting/Preferences > Plug-in Manager).

  4. Check the Loaded and Auto load boxes to make sure the plugin enabled every time you start the program.

Use the plugin

  1. Click File > Poly > Export Scene to Poly to upload the current asset to Poly.

    If you have not signed in before, or if permissions have expired, you'll be asked to sign in into your google account and grant access to the plugin.

  2. Once uploaded, you'll be directed to the Poly website where you can review and publish the asset.

3ds Max

Install the plugin

  1. Download the plugin for your version of 3ds Max:

  2. Move the file to 3ds Max's plugin folder, which by default is located at: <3dsmax-folder>/Plugins.

    Some versions of 3ds Max also have a plugin manager. For more information, see 3ds Max's documentation.

Use the plugin

  1. Click the wrench icon to open the Utilities panel.

    In the panel, click the More... button and select Poly Exporter in the list.

  2. In the Poly Export panel, click Export to Poly.

    If you have not signed in before, or if permissions have expired, you'll be asked to sign in into your google account and grant access to the plugin.

  3. Once uploaded, you'll be directed to the Poly website where you can review and publish the asset.
