To set up Google Pay for Business so that your business accepts payments through Google Pay, you must create a Google Pay for Business account. To set up an account, complete the following steps:

  1. Gather the prerequisites information needed.
  2. Create a Google Pay for Business account.

  4. Receive account approval from the Google Pay team.

Prerequisites

Before you create a Google Pay for Business account, make sure that you have the following information about your business available:

  • Your bank-provided Unified Payments Interface (UPI) ID.
  • Your Permanent Account Number (PAN), provided by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
  • Your Goods and Services TaxPayer Identification Number (GSTIN), which you received when your GST registration was approved.
  • Your business phone number.

Create a Google Pay for Business account

To create a Google Pay for Business account, you must first sign in to Google Pay for Business with the Google Account that you'd like to use to accept payments for your business. If you don't have a Google Account, create one.

Once your account is ready, follow the on-screen prompts to enter your business information into the Google Pay for Business form.

The following steps show how to enter the required business information:

  1. Verify that you're signed into the Google Account associated with your business, and then click Accept and Continue.
  2. Enter the correct name of your business. It can be a mix of letters and numbers. Once entered, click Next.
  3. Enter the complete address of your business. It's the location from which your business operates. Once entered, click Next.
  4. Enter your correct business contact number and the URL of your website. Click Next.
  5. Enter the following business details:
    • Merchant Category Code (MCC): Select and enter the correct 4-digit MCC from the list of provided MCC codes.
    • Permanent Account Number (PAN): Enter your business's PAN.
    • Goods and Services TaxPayer Identification Number (GSTIN): Enter your business's GSTIN.

Once everything is entered, click Next.

  6. Enter your Unified Payments Interface (UPI) ID, also known as a virtual payment address (VPA), to set up payments by UPI. Your UPI ID is a unique identifier, typically yourname@bankname, that your bank assigns to you and uses to transfer money to your bank account.

If you don't already have a UPI ID associated with your bank account, create one. Once a UPI ID is created and mapped against your business bank account, enter the UPI ID in the UPI ID field of the Google Pay for Business form. Then, click Next.

Verify your bank account

After you provide your UPI ID, Google deposits a small amount into the bank account linked to the provided UPI ID. To verify your bank account, follow these steps:

  1. Check the transactions in your bank account that is linked to UPI ID. Find the test amount deposited by Google.
  2. In your Google Pay account, go to the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) ID verification screen.
  3. Enter the amount Google deposited in your bank account.

If the amount you enter matches the amount Google deposited into your bank account, you've verified your bank account successfully.

Google Pay reviews your application

The Google Pay team reviews the business information that you provide when you sign up. Within 48 hours, the team emails you either an approval or a request for more information. To check the status of your application, sign in to your Google Pay for Business account.

Once approved, you're ready to receive payments with Google Pay for Business.
