Sonbaharda Google, katılım için yirmiden fazla açık kaynak kuruluşu seçti. Kuruluşlar, öğrencilerin üzerinde çalışacağı kısa (3-5 saatlik) görevlerden oluşan büyük bir liste oluşturur. Görevler şu şekilde sınıflandırılır: Kod, Belgeler/Eğitim,
Yardım/Araştırma, Kalite Güvencesi veya Tasarım.

Katılımda bulunun!
Öğrenciler ilgilendikleri bir görevi arar ve bu görevi talep eder. Bunu en az üç gün içinde
tamamlamaları gerekir.
Öğrenci görev üzerinde çalışıyor ve gerekirse rehberlerden rehberlik alıyor.
Öğrenci hazır olduğunda, çalışmasını yarışma web sitesi üzerinden incelemeye gönderir.
Kuruluştaki mentorlar çalışmayı değerlendirir, geri bildirim verir
ve tamamlandıysa kabul edin. Aksi takdirde, duruma özel bir geri bildirim sağlanır ve
öğrenci 2. adıma geri döner.

En az 1 görev tamamlayan katılımcılara dijital sertifika verilir.
3 veya daha fazla görev tamamlayan katılımcılara da tişört hediye edilir.
Yarışmanın sonunda her kuruluş, sınırlı sayıda Google Code-in ceketlerini kazanacak altı finalist seçer. Finalistlerden ikisi ise ikinci
olacak ve Google Code-in sırt çantası kazanacak. Her organizasyondan iki finalist büyük ödül kazananlar olacak ve Kaliforniya'daki Google Genel Merkezi'ne bir geziye çıkacaklar.
