Contextual View, a new low-code component within the Google Maps AI Kit, now allows you to embed interactive Google Maps experience directly into your AI responses. This enriches AI conversations by providing immediate visual context. For instance, an AI assistant can respond to a user query like 'things to do in Boston' not just with a list of trails, but also with an interactive map of the area, enabling users to explore the local geography and better visualize their trip.

The new Code Assist Toolkit, an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, now provides your AI assistant with direct access to the latest Google Maps Platform documentation. This integration aims to enhance code generation accuracy, reduce common errors, and streamline debugging workflows. Furthermore, you can now integrate Google Maps Platform expertise directly into your development environment via our new extension for the Gemini CLI.

Maps Styling is now integrated into Google AI Studio, enabling you to generate custom map styles using natural language prompts. This allows for rapid iteration on map aesthetics, whether updating to match brand guidelines, applying thematic styles, or programmatically emphasizing specific features like color-coded bodies of water, road networks, points of interest, or text labels.

Have you wanted to more accurately customize your maps? Now you can! Customizing styles for different map types and modes is now available in Preview, providing greater flexibility and control over how your maps are presented across web, iOS, and Android.

You can now easily create, manage, and switch custom map styles for your apps based on user or business context—all without requiring a reload of the map. That means you can meet your users where they are, whether they’re navigating in dark mode, exploring a new neighborhood in satellite view, or analyzing terrain data for a commercial project.

Places Insights in BigQuery launched and is now Generally Available (GA). This enables professionals to make better and faster decisions with Google’s fresh, comprehensive geospatial data, powerful cloud computing and AI-ready analytics tools. 

Places Insights empowers data analysts and data scientists to securely analyze and join Places API data with their own datasets using SQL in BigQuery. You can make more informed decisions on everything from site selection to geomarketing and location scoring based on the density of local amenities and businesses. 

Answer questions like, "How many 5-star sushi restaurants are open at 8 pm in Palo Alto, have wheelchair-accessible parking, and offer takeout?" or “What zip codes in Washington have the highest number of EV charging stations?” directly within your workflows.

Solar API data is now available for Latin America, providing developers with fundamental data to deliver solar panels and low carbon solutions for buildings in 7 new countries.
Our Solar API DataLayers also now include satellite-based true-ortho RGB, DSM, flux and building mask.

Earth AI showcases the latest research results in this space: covering new foundation models and their state-of-the-art performance, results from joining these into larger cross-modal models, and connecting and evaluating these with geospatial reasoning benchmarks. This system integrates models for Imagery, Population, and Environment, demonstrating a superior ability to reason over multiple data sources and deliver critical, actionable insights for real-world scenarios.

These SDKs provide Google’s rich 3D imagery, performant rendering, and customizable visualization tools to build immersive, interactive experiences for your native mobile applications. The Maps 3D SDKs for Android and iOS are currently available in Experimental. As part of this Experimental release, it will be at no cost to allow early users to test the product and provide feedback
