Before you can use an add-on, you must install it. This page describes how to see Gmail add-ons you have installed, install new ones, and uninstall add-ons you no longer need.
View your installed add-ons
You can view add-ons you have already installed in the G Suite applications they extend.
View your installed Gmail add-ons
Gmail add-ons you have already installed present icons in the right panel of the Gmail UI. You can also see the add-ons you have installed in the Gmail Add-ons settings page of your account, under Installed add-ons. Click Manage to open a dialog that presents the G Suite Marketplace listings for you installed add-ons.
Alternatively, you can see all the G Suite Marketplace apps (including Gmail add-ons) you have installed in the G Suite Marketplace Manage apps page.
View your installed editor add-ons
For editor add-ons, you can see the add-ons you have installed for a given editor using these steps:
- Open the associated editor (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, or Forms). The next
step depends on what editor you are using:
- For Google Docs, Sheets or Slides, select Add-ons > Manage add-ons... to open a dialog that lists all the add-ons you have installed for that editor.
- For Google Forms, click the icon and then select Add-ons.... This opens a dialog showing Forms add-ons you can install from the Chrome Web Store. Add-on you have already installed have a green corner banner with a checkmark. Hovering the cursor over add-on listings in this dialog displays a blue + FREE button for add-ons you haven't installed, or a green MANAGE button for add-ons you have installed.
Alternatively, you can see all the G Suite Marketplace apps (including editor add-ons) you have installed in the G Suite Marketplace Manage apps page.
Installing published add-ons
You can install published add-ons directly from the G Suite applications they extend.
Installing published Gmail add-ons
You can locate Gmail add-ons to install in a few ways:
- You can install a Gmail add-on directly from the G Suite Marketplace. All available Gmail add-ons are listed under the Works with Gmail category. To install, click on the add-on you want, review its listing, and click Install.
- You can install a Gmail add-on from with Gmail. Click the icon that appears at the bottom of the add-on icon column to the right of the Gmail interface. This opens a dialog that presents available Gmail add-ons listed in the G Suite Marketplace. Click the add-on you want, review its listing, and then click Install.
- You can install a Gmail add-on from the Gmail Add-on settings page. Click the Get add-ons link to open a dialog that presents Gmail add-on Marketplace listings. Click the add-on you want, review its listing, and then click Install.
Regardless of the method you use, after clicking the Install button you are asked to authorize the add-on for use.
Installing published editor add-ons
You can install an editor add-on directly from the G Suite Marketplace, using one of the following links:
All available editor add-ons are listed under one of these categories. To install, click on the add-on you want, review its listing, and click Install.
Alternatively, You can examine available editor add-ons and install new ones from the editor itself by doing the following:
- Open the associated editor (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, or Forms) in a
browser tab to an existing or new file. The next step depends on what
editor you are using:
- For Google Docs, Sheets or Slides, select Add-ons > Get add-ons... to open a dialog that lists available add-ons.
- For Google Forms, click the icon and then select Add-ons.... This opens a dialog that lists available Forms add-ons.
- Scroll through the list (or use the search bar) to find an add-on you want to install. You can use the drop-down menu in the upper-left to filter the list of add-ons to specific categories.
- When you have found an add-on you want to install, click it to bring up its full store listing. Click the + FREE button to install the add-on.
- Installing the add-on immediately brings up another dialog that allows you to authorize the add-on.
Uninstalling add-ons
If you have installed an add-on you no longer need, you can uninstall it the G Suite Marketplace.
To uninstall an add-on, do the following:
- Open the G Suite Marketplace Manage apps page.
- Locate the add-on you wish to uninstall and click the icon next to its name.
- From the resulting drop down menu, click Uninstall.
- Click Uninstall App to confirm the removal of the add-on.
You can re-install any removed add-on later by following the above installation instructions again.
Administrating add-on use for a domain
Domain administrators can install, authorize, control, and remove add-ons for users in their domain. Published add-ons have associated G Suite Marketplace store listings and are treated as any other G Suite Marketplace app.
