Biography

As senior manager of Public Policy and Government Relations at Google, Martin works on public policy campaigns across the full range of policy issues that impact Google and the web. Key issues include technology innovation, socio-economic development and entrepreneurship. He is passionate about maximising human potential through technology and has spent his career building and implementing tech solutions to address a wide range of social and economic development challenges. Having lived in the Middle East for over 15 years, Martin Roeske has extensive experience in working with regional governments. Following a series of senior roles at Lucent, Avaya and Accenture in Egypt, the US and London, Martin joined Cisco’s public sector team in the UAE, where he was responsible for developing new business models for the Education and Health practices across Emerging Markets. He then became COO & Chief Program Officer at Silatech, a non-profit social enterprise, where he incubated and managed a range of social innovation programs targeting youth employment. Prior to Google, he worked with Arab Financial Services in Bahrain where he was Group Head of Strategy & FinTech and worked on launching “cashless” services and introducing FinTech friendly regulation. Martin speaks Arabic, in addition to German and English, and graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Modern Middle Eastern Studies. He is the father of 3 children and lives in Dubai.
